News Home Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - – Keeping up with nature, people, and tradition in Alaska's National Forests, USDA's Wood Innovations, and Community Wood Energy grants allow four Alaska-based organizations in development of wood energy to help with sustainable heat and wood product processing projects. The awardees and projects are: Wood Innovations Grant recipients: Tok Wood Fuels, LLC – $300,000 for fuel log production in Tok Alaska Timber & Truss – $298,081 for a small log sawmill upgrade in Petersburg Community Wood Energy Grant recipients: Alaska Gateway School District – $499,156 for a wood chip heating systems at Mentasta and Northway Schools JK Forest Products – $158,000 for biomass thermal storage boiler and resaw upgrade in Thorne Bay 'Each year, I continue to be impressed with the creativity and ingenuity our communities bring to the table,' said Regional Forester Dave Schmid.
